RE: Chevy Colorado-GMC Canyon- good trucks? REVISED

I have an '06 GMC Canyon 2.8L 4cyl auto 2wd reg cab. It is the work truck model and I made sure it had the G80 locking rearend which really helps alot year round on soft muddy gravel roads, wet grass, and snow. I can fill the back of it with 1000 lbs of firewood and drive through some snow or wet grass up a hill to get the wood where I need it. Without the posi, it wouldnt of done it. All of this is with the stock tires too. Mileage is always 22-25 and I have hit 26-28 a few times. Only has 18k on it. At the rate it is driven nowadays, it should last a LONG time! But I can't afford to sell it or trade it with the market like it is. I would certainly look for a good certified preowned one if I was you. I'd recommend one to anyone. Just my .02.

RE: GM selling Hummer, maybe more

If they sell Buick, then what would happen to any new replacement parts or any kind of warranty work, recalls, etc? *gulp* I just bought an '06 Buick Lacrosse because I figured that i'd be safe with the buick name for Years to come. I think GM would regret selling Buick and Pontiac.

RE: For those that have a Focus Or a Fusion

We had a '98 cavalier with the 2.2L 4cyl and it only got 30-32 mpg highway and 25 mpg or so around town. We also have a '98 Olds 88 with the 3.8L V-6 and it gets 29-35 mpg average on the highway (not a misprint) and 22-25 mpg around town. We just bought an '06 Buick Lacrosse with the 3.8L V-6 and we average 28-32 mpg so far highway and 22-25 mpg around town, but the car only has 5000 miles on it. We will never get a compact car with a 4 cylinder thinking we're going to get alot better mileage than a larger car with a good v-6. My girlfriends dad has a newer Mitsubishi Lancer and he doesnt believe that mileage for one second. he says "it is impossible for a larger car with a V-6 to get around 30 or so for mileage when my lancer and kia rio only get that with the small 4 cylinder." But I prefer the comfort and quietness of the larger cars.

RE: Pictures of overloaded rigs/big loads - Beat mine!

That is so cute, seeing that little tonka truck on the back like that. I have seen the same thing on I-35 here in southern iowa. It was too far ahead of me by the time I had the camera out to take the picture. He was bookin pretty good.

RE: How cold was it here today? Hard to believe, but its true

Wow, that is cold! I could just imagine the high heating bills for homes and businesses. I'm 26 and for the first time in my life, i saw/experienced it get down to -17F air temp here in southern iowa a few nights ago. Same night northern iowa reached around -29F air temp. Scary how cold it was on "ice road truckers" too! Brrrr....

RE: GMC launch shudder also?

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm glad that I'm not the only one with a GMC that has launch shudder. We had an '02 3500 DRW D/A 4x4 extended cab and it didnt do it at all even up to having 24k in tow. I just try to always gently take off if i can and that way it isnt That bad. We had been afraid that it could be the tranny or converter until i read about the launch shudder on here. Take care everyone!

GMC launch shudder also?

We have an '06 and an '07 GMC 3500 CC D/A 4x4 DRW and we also have a "shudder" when taking off with a heavy load from about 7-15 or so mph. The heavier the load the worse it is. The '06 is definately worse than the '07. Could it also be a launch shudder? I posted the problem on Diesel place quite a while back with no replies. I didnt know if it was a serious problem or not. Anyone else have this problem with the GM trucks?
